Cyclospora Cases Reported in 41 States as Health Officials Investigate

There have been reports of a large-scale Cyclospora parasite outbreak in the United States due to iceberg lettuce imported from Central Mexico and has since spread to at least nine different states in America, resulting in what has been described as one of the largest outbreaks ever recorded in the country with more than 11,000 cases reported in 41 states. The parasite is known to cause severe diarrhea and infections in the digestive system, with the worst cases reported in Michigan where more than 8,100 people have fallen ill.
